China is not doing too bad in the smartphone market. In a recent research it outstrips the US in the size of the smartphone market taking the lead as the largest market in the world.
Statistics show that China has shipped over 24 million smartphones in the last quarter of 2011, comparing this to the United States which had a total of 23.3 million smartphones shipped. Additionally, smartphone demand slowed in the US by 7% in 2011, whilst in China there was a significant increase of over 50% growth. This shows that 2012 may be China’s year for smartphones and could significantly effect global demand for supplementary goods.
